I have survived two TBIs, one near fatal, severe with coma in 2012, the other moderate in 2017. My marriage of 26 years dissolved when I became disabled and family and friends didn't understand why I was not the same, able-bodied, organized RN anymore. I am unemployable due to chronic pain and memory/disorganization issues, and I just thank God I am alive as He continues to heal me. Since the injuries, my highs are higher and lows lower. No, not depressed or bipolar...my frustrations can make me cry, but I hear a good joke and am cracking up with my "a little too loud" laughter. I now have a small circle of friends that love me and extend me much grace!

What I like the most about your comment Debbie, is how it restores my faith in people. I love the fact that your colleagues are able to show their understanding and support through their response to your moments. I’m sure they’re not angels and have their own weaknesses, but they still understand that the Debbie they know deserves to be forgiven.

i've almost lost my job, and caused a lot of hard feelings, it's like watching a stranger react. surreal. and there is no stop button. once it's over i can immediately explain. and thankfully everyone i work with, after years there, knows that it isn't out of malice. if a trigger gets triggered, there i go. so, i've come to know most my triggers and i'm working on understanding how they have gotten there. now, i straight away inform new employees what they are likely to do to set me off, and not to take it to heart too much. i say too much, because it's not caring for the animals properly that tends to be the culprit at work.

Anger? not so much, but even before I never got angry, now I need to be more of a serious person. but laughter is the best cure. There are a lot of four letter words out there, but it all comes down to the most essential ones, that of L.O.V.E. :)
