My TBI is from a stroke five years ago …. And indeed recovering from all the damage has been difficult to say the least ……. The whole brain damage thing is well you have said it all …. So happy to come across your blogs
I particularly like your comments about NO DEADLINES… lifts a tremendous burden off my shall we say BRAIN….?. Actually I made that decision a couple of years ago and still struggle with feeling guilty about doing so.
So it was great to find someone who seems to agree with me …

That's great David, keep doing what you're doing! I wasn't given the tools but I do meditate to try to put things but in order in my head.

My self confidence was shot to bits, to the point that I concentrated more on what I couldn't do more than what I could. But thanks to excellent and caring therapists I am now able to tackle new challenges head on. Yes I have doubts but they equipped me with the tools to be able to overcome those doubts to the extent that my mantra now is "I had brain surgery, what can be harder than that?"

If I've been having an hard time with something I like to think back to my time in rehab, working on something similar, with my therapist and imagining how proud they would be of me overcoming it. Imagining them being proud or happy for me is my little reward to myself.
